Five people were confirmed dead and several others seriously injured in a motor accident along Kampala-Gulu highway. The road accident occurred on Friday in Wakisanyi, Kiryandongo-Kampala-Gulu road.
The accident happened when a fully packed bus Isuzu bus UAQ 045Q travelling to Gulu collided head on with a Toyota Prado UAY 727Q heading to Kampala.
According to the preliminary report the Prado tried to overtake three vehicles leading to a head on collision with the bus b which was from the opposite side.
Five passengers in the Prado died on the spot including a Police officer called Cpl Atwebembeire Ronald Gashom.
By press time, police was still looking for some body parts of the deceased while the body of the prado driver was still stuck in the wreckage. Bodies of the deceased were taken to Kiryandongo hospital for post-mortem. Seven of the injured were also taken to Kiryandongo hospital for treatment.
