AgeLimit: Lukwago picked like chicken thief, fire Fighting equipment’s secured for Parliament

For now, Kampala remains calm as security forces including Military police have managed to arrest and detain the anti- age limit leaders.
Earlier today, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was picked like chicken thief as he attempted to get out of his home in Wakaliga, a Kampala suburb.



He was briefly detained at Kira Division Police Station in Namugongo before he was transfred to Naggalama Police Station.

Three KCCA Lord Councillors including Doreen Nyanjura, the LC5 Woman Councillor Makerere University, Muhammad Segirinya and another an unidentified Councillor were arrested as they attempted to march to Parliament.
According to the Observer, Firefighting equipment have already been stocked for Parliament. It is unclear if the procurement for the fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment had been made before or have been brought in anticipation of a heated plenary today.

At Makerere, Military Police and army in running battles with Makerere University students. There are reports that students of Kyambogo University are also mobilising to march to Parliament.
Police as already sealed off FDC offices in Najjanankumbi. Reports indicate FDC strongman Dr. Kizza Besigye is locked up at his home in Kasangati. Police has also deployed heavily in Kasangati town.



In Lira town, a Solitary protestor against age limit removal, was pictured with a mocked-up coffin with inscriptions “removal of presidential age limit is the death of our country” placed next to burning car tyre in the middle of the road.
Recently, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) caucus endorsed a proposal to repeal article 102 (b) of the constitution, which restricts the presidential age limit to between 35 and 75 years of age. The move is allegedly aimed at paving way for President Museveni who will be above 75 years by the 2021 polls to offer himself for election.
