Sisimuka Uganda boss Frank Gashumba detained by CMI

Sisimuka Uganda’s Executive Director Frank Gashumba is reportedly held at Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) head officies for impersonating as Defence Ministry official to obtain money by false pretence. UPDF spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire confirmed Mr Gashumba’s arrest to local media.

Last night, Gashumba used his Facebook page to communicate he had been picked by CMI.I have been detained by CMI without an explanation right now in Mbuya” he posted.
A single father of two daughters, and a Ugandan of Rwandan origin was picked on Monday.Reliable sources say, on tuesday morning over 10 CMI officers raided Gashumba’s home in Bunga, a Kampala suburb to search his house.





One of top government critic, Gashumba has previously been accused of conning foreigners by posing as a senior government official, claims he has denied.

The arrest of Gashumba after President Museveni’s directive to CMI to carry out parallel investigations into the murder of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Felix Kaweesi. Last week, CMI arrested and arraigned nine people including seven police officers and charged them before the General Court Martial for among others kidnapping, spying for neighbouring country.

Unconfirmed reports say the Motor mouthed commentator had been picked as part of a wider network of individuals who are spying for the government of Rwanda. Other sources say that the arrest of Gashumba is not related to the matter.

In 2011, the controversial businessman, Gashumba, who was convicted of conspiracy to defraud dfcu bank in February, has again been arrested over another fraud case. Gashumba was arrested with three others on 2nd Saturday 2011, on allegations of trying to defraud a Turkish company dealing in fire tenders of $28m (Ugx. 79.9 billion) on pretext that they wanted to buy fire trucks on behalf of the Ugandan government.

In April 2008, Gashumba was arraigned before Buganda Road Court and charged with obtaining money by false pretence from a one Abdul Ssali. Mr Gashumba, together with Ishaka Ddungu Muwesi reportedly approached Mr Ssali and promised to secure him a log book for his car which they never did after giving them Shs800,000.
