The Chief of Defence forces (CDF) Gen David Muhoozi on Monday meet with the victims of Thursday beating by security personnel enforcing COVID 19 directives.
The CDF also publicly apologized to the group and offered help to support them.
“Their handling was high handed, unjustified and regrettable. I do apologise to them and to fellow countrymen,” the CDF said.
Those with medical complications where offered treatment at the UPDF Senior Officers diagnostic centre in Mbuya.
Last week, some armed Local Defence Unit (LDU) men were captured by the media, flogging elderly women who were vending fruits in the city.
The act by LDU’s caused public outrage
As an additional measure to strengthen Command and Control of the joint forces, the CDF appointed Col Mike Walaka Hyeroba the Kampala overall Commander of LDUs.
