In a Monday morning update, Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner Nobert Komora also confirmed that 10 people had survived the grisly crash.

The bus, en route from the central county of Meru to Nairobi, fell off a bridge into the Nithi River about 40 meters below, killing 20 people on the spot. 09 others were pronounced dead on arrival in hospital. – Local media outlets reported.
More than 20 passengers were hospitalized with serious injuries, and there were others missing, according to local rescuers.
Police said preliminary investigations had shown the accident may be caused by a brake failure.
The bridge has been marked as a “black spot” as a large number of accidents have occurred there.
