Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti appointed new chairman of the Court Martial

The commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF), General Kaguta Museveni has appointed Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti to head the General Court Martial based in Makindye. He replaces Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga who passed away in April 2016.

Between May 2012 and December 2013, Lt. General Andrew Gutti was the commander of the African Union Mission (AMISOM) in Somalia.

Before he went to Somalia, Lt. Gen Gutti who has served in the Ugandan Military for close to 30 years, was the commandant of the Uganda Senior Command and Staff College at Kimaka.

according to Wikipedia In 2015, Lt. Gen. Gutti was among six Ugandan army generals who were awarded a US prestigious US military service medal for their outstanding performance against the al-Shabaab terrorists in war torn Somalia.

Among the many cases, awaiting Lt. Gen. Gutti, is that of General Sejusa where he is accused of illegally leaving the army.
