The Ministry of Health on Sunday confirmed one new COVID-19 case bringing the total number of infections in the country to 89, 52 recoveries and zero death.
Of Uganda’s 89 confirmed coronavirus cases, at least 30 have come from truck drivers. Today, a total of 2,930 samples were tested and all the 201 community samples turned out negative- the ministry said on Sunday.
The case was confirmed out of 2,729 samples of truck drivers tested.
According to Dr. Henry Mwebesa, Director General Health Services, “the case is a 39-year-old Kenyan male truck driver who arrived via Malaba. Efforts to track him are underway.”
All 201 samples from the community tested negative for COVID-19.
In the other news, The police leadership has put all the 104 officers residing in Masindi police barracks under quarantine after one of their colleagues tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
Polly Namaye, the deputy police of the force says quarantining all the 104 officers and their family members living in Masindi police barracks is part of the resolutions made in the virtual meeting intended to devise means of containing the spread of the virus
