Police on Saturday arrested a 46 year old boda boda rider who killed his wife and two children at Banda “B” Zone, Nakawa Division, Kampala.
The suspected has been indentified as Yasin Mbago.
‘ ‘In reference to the above murder, that happened on 08/05/2020, the suspect, MBAGO YASIN, a resident of Banda “B” and a boda boda rider at Kireka Farmer’s Market has been identified and arrested in LUUKA district and taken to CPS LUUKA pending transfer to Jinja Road Police Station.’’ Reads a brief statement from Uganda police.
On Friday, it was reported that Mbago, who was on the run had strangled his wife and two biological children and wrapped them in sacks.
The team’s preliminary findings is that the suspect, who is on the run, strangled his wife and two biological children and wrapped them in separate polythene.
Police findings indicates that the likely cause of murder is suspected to be domestic violence.
According to eye witnesses, the suspect on several occasions have assaulted the wife and at one time, he tied her with ropes and caned her badly.
The deceased were identified as Carol Namboozo aged 25, who hails from Nabumali. The children were only identified by one name, Musa, 4 years old, and Shaban, 7 years old.
The murder is suspected to have taken place at 4am during the morning rain. The body was taken to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination
