Uganda registers 446 new COVID-19 cases

The Ministry of Health on Friday reported 446 new confirmed coronavirus cases taking the nationwide total to 33,360. No new deaths have however been recorded.
“Results of COVID-19 tests done on December 24, 2020, confirmed 446 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases are now 33,360,” the Ministry of Health said



The breakdown of the new cases are as follows; Kampala (353), Wakiso (26), Mukono (19), Soroti (8), Mbale (8), Masaka (6), Tororo (5), Kyotera (3), Budaka (3), Lira (3), Amuru (1), Kibuku (1), Busia (1), Namayingo (1), Kween (1), Luwero (1), Mbarara (1), Jinja (1).
The other new cases were four Ugandan truck drivers who came from Kenya, through Malaba, and South Sudan, through Elegu.

The ministry reported 84 additional recoveries to take the total number of recoveries to 10,905 while no new deaths were reported leaving the total at 245.
The ministry also called on the population to maintain vigilance during the festive period and observe the existing health protocols to avoid the spread of the virus.
