Presidential advisor on the media, Mr. Tamale Mirundi has said that Mr. Abed Bwanika, one of the key opposition leaders and the president of the President of the People’s Development Party, is an NRM diehard.
While appearing on Top Radio 89.6 FM, Talk show where he is a regular guest, Mirundi revealed that Mr. Abed Bwanika was planning to run for MP slot.
He says the three time presidential aspirant is planning to campaign for Member of Parliament for Bukoto County South, Lwengo district on an NRM ticket. He did not give more details.
The elected MP, Hajji Mbabaali Muyanja Muhammad defeated Democratic Party’s Mathias Nsubuga. However, he was thrown out of parliament for lack of the necessary academic qualification.
Mr. Abed Bwanika is a veterinarian, politician, and pastor.
In the just concluded presidential elections, Dr. Abed Bwanika, scored 89,005 votes or 0.86 percent of all valid votes cast. He, however rejected the election results in which president Museveni was declared winner.
He demanded the Electoral commission avail him with declaration of results forms used during the February 18 presidential polls.
Dr Bwanika indicated that the forms would enable him and other Ugandans to verify the tallies with a view to ascertaining the actual winner.
During the 2016 elections, there were rumours of Mr. Bwanika and Amama Mbabazi planning to hold joint campaigns in sometparts of the country. Mr. Bwanika strongly refuted the claim.
‘‘I strongly disassociate with allegations of holding a joint campaign with Hon Amama Mbabazi in Yumbe town.’’ He posted on Social Media.
