Once the country’s most powerful broadcaster, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) is now a white elephant. And things seem to be turning from bad to worse.

The 2016 UBC review report revealed the State owned media house was heavily indebted, mismanaged and unable to sustainably finance its operations.

Fresh reports reaching us reveal the national Television –Uganda Broadcasting Cooperation- (UBC) as now migrated from the customary power payment system (metering) to digital top-up and prepaid style dubbed Yaka.

Surprisingly, even with the top-up system -Yaka, the station still gets unprecedented disconnections.

One wonders why a public institution that houses the main transmitter with a dozen public radio stations and National TV is limited on power supply.

Inside sources told Newz Post that the struggling UBC sister TV- UBC Magic One recently survived closure.

In the other news, Buddies Production CEO, Junior Dave Kazoora a.k.a JK, was been hired new manager of the same station.

The 2016 Dr. Peter Mwesige led UBC Review Committee that carried out inquiries into the operations of UBC recommended for the amendment of the UBC act to turn the corporation into a truly independent broadcaster.
In its recommendations, the committee proposed that; the UBC Act be amended to make the institution more independent, restructure the Corporation, find ways of financing and management change.
