A Nigerian company has developed solar powered fridge called ColdHubs that is expected to not only help conserving environment but also cut on post harvest losses of farmers by more than 90 percent.

Designed by Nnaemeka Ikegwuonu is walk in cold room and provided 24 hours off the grid storage. According to venturesafrica.com the ColdHubs is made of 120mm insulating cold room panels mounted on the rooftop. The energy from the solar panels would be stored in high capacity batteries, which feeds the inverters that supplies current to the refrigerating unit. The farmer will have to place their produce in clean plastic creates which are stacked inside the cold room.
