Six heavily armed robbers riding motorcycles and wearing masks on Wednesday raided Cheap Hardware in Nansana killing two people on the spot.
According to Kampala metropolitan police spokesman SP Patrick Onyango, the dead are Jimmy Atikuru who has been the assistant manager of the hardware and another who was identified as Frank Aruho.
Meanwhile two other workers were badly injured in the shooting and rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital.
Onyango says three of the robbers were armed with AK47 riffles.
According to witnesses, the masked attackers cordoned off the hardware shop before opening fire on employees.
A witness identified as Mutesasira, says the attackers stormed the shop from a section that has no CCTV cameras to avoid being detected.
The robbers reportedly carried out their mission at the time when the cashiers were preparing to take unspecified amount of money to the bank.
