RIGGING IN NRM PRIMARIES: Museveni gives 03 day amnesty, vows to announce the true results, prosecute fraudsters

President yoweri Museveni has condemned voter bribery, infiltration of NRM by opposition and candidates using his name for political gain.
The president made the remarks on Friday while meeting NRM parliamentary aspirants and other officials from Ankole sub region
The meeting took place at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara



The head of state gave a 03 day amnesty to those involved in voter bribery and fraud In the just concluded NRM primaries
For constituencies that had violence, Museveni ruled out re-run of election and promised to conduct investigations.
‘’About rigging and fraud. I gave all those who did it a three-day amnesty starting yesterday 10th Sept.2020, to come clean. If they do not heed this call, we shall announce the true results and instead prosecute those fraudsters.’’ He said
‘’For those who were violent in the party primaries, including those who masterminded it, we shall arrest and prosecute them. I have spoken to families of those whose loved ones were killed in these incidents, we shall see how to support them.’’

He said that In Kiruhura, for example, the party has verified results from 151 villages and we are left with 60 other villages. ‘’We shall make our independent conclusions. This is what we shall do in all districts with problems. And for those villages which did not get to vote, they will vote’’
He also warned relatives who use his name for political gain

‘’On the issue of my relatives getting involved in politics. In Matthew 12: 46-50. Jesus says His brothers are those who do the will of His Father in Heaven. For me, like Jesus, my relatives are all and any NRM member who does the right thing according to the party constitution.’’



He added: My name should not come up when my biological relatives are contesting. However, I will table in the party CEC the issue of high-ranking party officials backing their relatives to fight other NRM contenders.
In Mawogola North, his younger brother Godfrey Aine Kaguta is facing Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa’s daughter Shartis Musherure.



On infiltration of NRM, the NRM chairman asked members to choose between NRM and other parties
‘’There were some party members who have been supporting other parties, yet they came to stand on the NRM ticket to be MPs. These must tell us where they belong.’’
He reportedly questioned a one Ponsiano who hails from Isingiro on why he attends Gen Henry Tumukunde’s meetings and participates in NRM matters
