President Museveni ordered eight members of the National Resistance Movement Members opposed to the removal of age limit out of a meeting of the ruling party’s parliamentary caucus.
The Friday meeting was chaired by President Museveni, the meeting took place at Prime Minister Conference Hall.
Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa reportedly read out the names of Seven MPs and ordered them to immediately withdraw from the meeting.
The affected MPs are Theodore Ssekikubo, Barnabas Tinkasimire, John Baptist Nambeshe, Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, Patrick Nsamba, Sylvia Rwabwogo and Acidiri James.
At the press conference, Lwemiyaga MP says he tried to argue with the President to let everyone express their views on the matter but with no success.
” We demanded that since the president was around, it was time that to discuss the matter of peaceful transition without tampering with the constitution,” Ssekikubo said.
He added: president Museveni must have been bewitched. It has never happened for him to act in a dictatorial manner in broad day light. We’re going to sue president Museveni, the party’s president for breach of the party Constitution.
MP Kaberuka told reporters that he can be part of Ugandans but not party to that thuggery. While Sylvia Rwabogo said he cannot go against what people and clergy in Kabarole are saying, simply because of an individual’s wish.

Kasambya county MP Hon Gaffa Mbwatekamwa said at the same press conference, “Our party has betrayed us; we have been dismissed from our party , this is not good for our country.”
Meanwhile, the affected MPs say the term NRM ‘rebel’ MPs – is not befitting, ‘ ‘we are the reformed NRM MPs’’
