The Special Investigation Directorate under the Criminal Investigations Directorate has taken over inquiries into the case of incitement to violence through social media by a one Andrew Mukasa of Bajjo Events-Police said on Monday.
Police Spokesman, Fred Enanga said that Mukasa was arrested by Special Forces Brigade (SFC) officers
Mr Mukasa, the proprietor of Bajjo Events and Marketing Agency Limited, is the official events organiser for Kyaddondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
Police says, the case relates to the comments he made in “Luganda” local language and circulated online. When translated, Andrew Mukasa of Bajjo events warns H.E. The President of their plans to oust him before the year 2021, and further warns the military of similar plans to oust the President, and indicates with confidence how he had people backing him.”
‘’The suspect consciously ran the risk of being charged for inciting violence, treason or misprision of treason, since the law protects the honor of the President as a democratically elected leader.’’- Enanga said.
On Saturday, SFC officers stormed City Bar located in the heart of Centenary Park in Kampala, where Mr Mukasa and his colleagues were addressing a joint press conference.
Mr Mukasa in conjunction with Mr Abby Musinguzi, the proprietor of Abtex Productions, were announcing their plan to organise a People Power Marathon to collect money to support Bobi Wine, and orphans whose parents have died during the ongoing People Power struggle.
The officers dragged Mr Mukasa to a waiting van which sped off to an unknown destination.
Bobi Wine speaks out
‘ ‘Our brother Andy Mukasa, Bajjo was abducted by a section of security forces in a thug-like manner from Mix Lounge, Centenary park while addressing a press conference yesterday. Together with promoter Abtex and other comrades, these friends were announcing a marathon, proceeds of which would support People Power! This is not a crime!!! The scared and collapsing regime is intimidating and harassing everyone who associates with #PeoplePower! Our supporters have been illegally arrested, tortured, kidnapped, and shot. Many have been killed. But in all this, we shall certainly overcome! I am encouraged by the resilience of all comrades for not giving up the fight, despite all these violations.’’
