The rate at which NTV Uganda is losing key staff to rival- NBS tv is alarming that, NTV managing director Agnes Konde might decide to voluntarily resign and join her former employees at NBS tv.
The latest, long-serving reporter Gertrude Tumusiime Uwitware is set to join her colleagues at the fast growing NBS tv who left in 2015.
NTV has so far lost more than 10 employees to Kamwokya based media house. These include; MC Kats, Solomon Sserwanja, Rukh-shana Namuyimbwa, Wisdom Kiyonga Dean Saava, Chrismel Wasswa and Shillah Mugisha
Gertrude Tumusiime is the face behind the two popular programmes on NTV: Living Life, and Tetenkanya Obulamu. Uwitware reportedly handed in her resignation on Monday. Reports indicate, she has already signed a contract and will be unveiled at NBS soon
Gertrude Tumusiime Uwitware is a graduate of the 2012 Mass Communication class at Makerere University. She has worked as a student writer with The Observer Newspaper, for a period of one year. A graduate of the Nation Media Group Media Lab, where she spent nine months with 19 other graduates from around East Africa training in all round Journalism. She joined NTV Uganda in February, 2013, and is currently working as a News Reporter, with a bias in Human Interest reporting and Health.
Uwitware’s resignation follows an earlier resignation of the station’s head of marketing, Collins Mugume. Insiders say, the current resignations at NTV are fuelled by the introduction of rather unclear pay structure at NTV.- under the structure: the presenters are paid for what they produce. This was introduced in last year.
It is not yet over, reports indicate, the station is about to lose senior editor. The editor is said to be in advanced negotiations with an international media house, is set to crossover anytime from now.
