Late last year, a TV audience market survey by IPSOS Marketing Limited, an independent reputable research firm, ranked NBS TV has the most influential and leading English television station in central Uganda. The research firm interviewed people in the central region that covers Kampala and neighboring districts of Wakiso, Entebbe and Mukono.
In general, the findings of the research revealed that 97% of the respondents watch two or more television stations on a daily basis meaning people are constantly switching channels. However, of these, 38% said NBS is the main television station they watch. Closely behind is NTV with 37%.
The respodents gave some reasons for choice of NBS: The station has live coverage; NBS has more live telecasts than competitors and can broadcast live from more than 15 places simultaneously.; The station offers a wide range of interesting programs such as ‘One on One with Tamale Mirundi, Frontline, Barometer and Morning Breeze; The station broadcasts first hand and detailed news; for instance, the coverage of the debate on the presidential age-limit has been outstanding; The station has some of the best talent in the industry such as Charles Odongotho and Solomon Sserwanjja among others who were ranked as the best television personalities when it comes to current affairs broadcasting in Uganda. Among others.
Where NBS TV is ahead
From the findings, NBS TV outdid its competitors in current affairs, live broadcasts and unique programming. In total, 54% of the respondents considered NBS TV as the unrivaled market leader in those two segments.
