January this year, Bobi Wine made public his s ambition to challenge President Museveni in the 2021 Presidential elections.
Bobi Wine revealed he is “seriously considering” running for the highest office, during an interview with CNN’s Robyn Curnow.
“We want to have many Ugandans registered as voters, and overwhelming Museveni looks like our only way out,” he said.
“Many people have come to me calling for me to stand; we have been discussing this issue with my team, and I must say, me and my team are seriously considering challenging Museveni in the next presidential election.
Addssing the youth at State House, President Museveni also accused Bobi Wine of misleading youth into violence, which has affected the country’s image and investment
“I have no problem working with people in the ghetto…. They are easy to mobilise because they are in one place. You just need to reach out to them,” he said.
“People you have trusted with leadership in Kampala have betrayed you. When my people relaxed, you voted for Hajji Nasser Ssebagala, he didn’t work for you. You voted John Ssebaana (RIP). … Ssebaana’s work was only to sell market and parks , You voted Kato Lubwama, because he is funny. The others voted BobiWine, because, he is musician, oh…..” the President said.
