Museveni drops Don Nabasa, appoints general James Birungi new SFC commander

President Yoweri Museveni who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces has appointed Maj Gen James Birungi the new Special Forces Command (SFC) boss, replacing Maj Gen Don Nabasa.



Major General James Birungi is long-serving Army air force Chief of Staff.
Meanwhile, Don Nabaasa, who headed the unit has been sent on a course in China’s War College for Specialised Training.



Nabasa took over SFC Command from now Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba in 2017.
Over the years, Nabasa has commanded various units in the UPDF, starting with an Infantry Platoon in 1999, then a tank platoon in 2000, then serving as a brigade operations officer from 2004 until 2005.

The SFC is responsible for the security of the President of Uganda and special operations in January 2017.
