Issa Hayatou loses, African football presidency to Madagascan Ahmad

Madagascan Ahmad has been elected president of African football body Confederation of African Football (CAF), beating incumbent and beating long-serving rival Issa Hayatou by 34 votes to 20.




The assembly was held in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, and was attended by FIFA president Gianni Infantino , whose recent tour of Africa was seen as a campaign drive to unseat the incumbent.





Hayatou has been the president of African football for almost 30 years and was seeking another term.
