Indian national Vikrant Sangir, who operated a hardware shop along Nabugabo Road, in Kampala committed suicide at Fairway Hotel in Kampala last Friday
Sangir’s body was found hanging by the rope in room 2204 at Fairway hotel a day after his colleague, Sidharth Shyamsunder Sharma reported him missing at Kampala central police station.
The fairway hotel manager was reportedly forced to open the room only to find the deceased’s lifeless body.
Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, says the late Sangir left behind a suicide note, which is a subject of police investigation.
“Investigations show he left his work place on the 8th of August 2019 at around 10:30am and told his workmates that he was sick and going for treatment at Norvik hospital along Bombo road, Wandegeya Kampala.
He never reached the hospital
Handwriting experts in the police forensic directorate are analyzing the purported suicide note by the deceased.
The deceased reportedly cut a string on the swinging chair, in his room and used it to end his life. The body has been taken to Mulago national referral hospital morgue for postmortem.
