Dr. Ian Clarke Junior School was officially opened on Sunday 08 May 2016. The proprietor of International Hospital Kampala revealed that the school was started because of the believe that if we use modern teaching methods focused on student centred inquiry and understanding we will slowly make an impact on education.
‘‘Good education and healthcare are two of the cornerstones for development of any society’’ said Dr. Ian Clarke.
In an interview with the Observer Dr. Ian Clarke said: ‘ ‘When you look at most people, they are not daft; they are lacking in critical thinking skills … the current education system aims at knowledge gathering and kills the inquiring mind, right from the start. Clarke Junior will look to emphasise on a child’s inquiring mind, so that they are lifelong learners, rather than those who can reproduce knowledge for examinations.”
Located in Muyenga, a Kampala Suburb, the school is targeted the middle class looking for quality education. Education remains the few profitable businesses in Uganda. The school fees range from Ugx. 800,000 per term to Ugx. 1,500,000
