South African superstar Master KG, the man behind the global hit “Jerusalema” and the globally renowned Ghetto Kids recently met up in Jinja, Uganda.
The meeting was facilitated by Uganda’s songstress Sheebah who, having also started her career as a dancer, was the perfect person to introduce the Ghetto Kids to Master KG and his dance crew from South Africa.
They all discussed the impact of African Dance on the globe and how viral videos literally changed their lives. They taught each other dance moves and had a good time together. This meet up was a great example of the MAMA bringing international artists together to exchange ideas, cultures and skills.
The MAMA has always fostered a culture of exchange, upliftment and learning across Africa and the globe. As part of the MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021 production roll-out aspiring professionals from Uganda will also benefit from internships and job shadowing opportunities as well a series of skills exchange workshops set to take place in 2021.
Master KG was in Uganda as part of a film shoot for the upcoming MTV Base program “Road to MAMA”, a three-part show, leading up the MAMA Kampala 2021 main show, that will air on 16 January, 30 January and on 13 February, showcasing the beauty of the country, in partnership with Uganda, the Pearl of Africa,
The MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021 will have a Best Ugandan Act category for the first time and six remarkable musicians have been nominated in honour of host country talent. These include Sheebah, Bebe Cool, John Blaq, Vinka, Daddy Andre and Spice Diana.
