By Bobi Wine
On Thursday, I felt very lucky to receive words of wisdom, and a blessing from a very respected senior citizen of our country, Rev. Father Gaetano Batanyenda.
At 75 years, Father Gaetano has devoted his life to shepherding the people of God, but also working for justice, fairness and equity. He has always spoken out against injustice, corruption and bad governance.
He implored me and other comrades never to rely on our own understanding in our struggle for a better Uganda but to always trust God, for it says in Proverbs 3:5-6 that, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
He also asked me to always practice the words in Proverbs 31:8-9 and leave the rest to God. These words are- “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” His gift to me was a Bible, for which I am very grateful.
