Coronavirus: Kikuubo trader succumbs to covid-19 as Uganda records 99 new cases

Results of Covid-19 tests done on 23 August 2020 confirm 99 new cases.

This brings the cumulative total of confirmed cases to 2,362. The ministry of health announced on Monday evening
On Monday, Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) offices confirmed six staff had tested positive. Five of these were confirmed at the main officers at the Nakawa Business Park and one at UNRA Masindi Station Office.
The confirmed cases at UNRA are from 494 samples taken on 19th and 20th August 2020 for which results for 222 samples have been received.

A total of 21 cases have been confirmed at the ministry as of Monday August 24th. Interim test results have indicated that at least 21 positive cases so far have been identified. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, we have contacted the affected staff and placed them under medical care,The Ministry Permanent Secretary Keith Muhakanizi

Meanwhile, Two Covid-19 deaths were recorded bringing the country’s total deaths to 22.

One of the deceased is a 35 year old female trader from kikuubo and another 36-year old from kisenyi Kampala.
It has also since been established that , the coronavirus death confirmed In Mbale was of Wodega Gizamba, 49, a pastor at the Community Corner Stone church in Nkoma Ward, Mbale City. He died on Wednesday at Mbale regional referral hospital.

Of the 99 new cases, 84 are contacts and alert; Kampala 49, kikuube 8, Gulu 5, sironko 4, Lamwo 3, lira 2, luwero2, Tororo 2, Yumbe 2, Mbale 1, Abim, kotido1,

Others are health workers- Kampala 5, male 2. Kikuue 1, and Gulu 1.

the ministry also said Others are returnees from Saudi Arabia 5 and one from Kenya
