Blue Wave mineral water not fit for consumption-Parliament

Par­lia­men­t’s Equal Op­por­tu­ni­ties com­mit­tee has or­dered for the clo­sure of Luzira based Blue Wave Bev­er­ages Lim­ited, the manufacturers of Blue Wave mineral water.

Recently, a whistle blower petitioned Parliament’s Equal Opportunities Committee, with a carton of Blue Wave mineral water bottles with visible black particles.

The Com­mit­tee chair­per­son, Mo­hammed Nsereko said the black par­ti­cles in the bot­tled wa­ter in­di­cated con­t­a­m­i­na­tion.

 

“Peo­ple have been com­plain­ing about Blue Wave wa­ter, in­clud­ing the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter, which can­celled the com­pa­ny’s con­tract. This type of wa­ter is bound to make Ugan­dans sick. The com­pany should be closed,” MP Nsereko said.

The Uganda National Bureau of Statistics(UNBS), Deputy Executive Director in charge of Technical Operations Patricia Ejalu told the committee that UNBS conducted a test analysis on Blue Wave mineral water on May 13, 2015 and found that the quality of water was not fit for consumption.

“We are go­ing to sus­pend their op­er­a­tions un­til they meet the qual­ity re­quire­ments. We shall work with the com­mit­tee and sec­tor min­istry to en­sure that con­sumers in Uganda are pro­tected against such prod­ucts,” Ejalu promised.
Blue Wave Beverages Uganda Limited, is a Chinese company  that was launched in 2003..
