On Wednesday, President Yoweri Museveni announced the decision of the government to close down all public religious gatherings, including churches, for 32 days effective immediately.
This will not only change the way Ugandans worship, but will also affect tithes and offerings
However, the church of Uganda has come up with other means to collect the tithe.
‘ ‘This decision [ to close down religious gatherings] will have a big impact on how we live and worship as Christians for the next few weeks, and I want to provide some additional guidance’’ Rev Stephen Kazimba wrote on Wednesday
He called on Christians not neglect to worship God through your tithes and offerings.
The Most Rev asked Bishops and Clergy to explain to their Christians how to use online banking, if available, to continue giving weekly tithes and offerings.
Alternatively, the Bishop said, using Mobile Money may be another means.
‘ ‘ It may be possible to pass by your local church during the week and give your offering privately, If none of those are available, I urge every Christian to set aside their weekly tithes and offerings.’’ He said
Adding that, ‘ ‘when we do come back together again – and, we will! – we will have a big in-gathering as a Thanksgiving to God for his great faithfulness ‘’
