All is not well for Hon. Kato Lubwama, the Member of Parliament for Lubaga South. The comedian turned MP is yet to make a statement on the floor of parliament close to a year in the August House. But that is not the news.
Reliable information has it that Hon. Kato Lubwama’s newly acquired media outfit- Biliv Tv is closing for business, after the struggling media house failed to pay operating Licence, employees and Decoder service providers -Star times and GOTV.
Reports indicate, the MP who is still battling a court case for lack of lack of requisite academic qualifications. last paid Biliv Tv staff six months ago.One of his constituency voters, Mr Habib Buwembo, an FDC secretary general for Rubaga South Constituency, In his petition contends that his area MP lacks the Primary Leaving Examination Certificate (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent which are a requirement to becoming an MP.
All this comes in a wake of problems following the closure of Kato Lubwama’s theatre over accumulated rent. The Biliv tv which opened in late 2015 had just started to gain audience, was one of the parliamentarian’s investments in his term so far.
Recently, Hon Kato Lubwama was evicted from Royal Theatre along Martin Road over Shs 200 million debt. The eviction was enforced by Cephas Auctioneers and Court Bailiffs in the presence of armed police officers.
