Uganda’s leading entertainers Anne Kansiime and Teacher Mpamire were on Tuesday named among the 2017 100 Most Influential Young Africans, an initiative which is noted to be the biggest and most respected across the continent with participation from over 140 countries globally.
According to the organizers the most influential Young Africans show leadership, innovation, creativity, and/ entrepreneurship
Speaking about the list, Prince Akpah, President of Africa Youth Awards noted the exceptionality of this year’s list which has an unprecedented gender representation of 45 women and 55 men, which he noted as a great move to inspire more young women in Africa and across the world to reach out for their dreams.
The list which was restricted to age limits between, 15 and 36 had a coverage of 28 countries on the continent with Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Kenya leading with 19, 18, 10, 7 representatives respectively.
Who is Anne Kansiime
Kansiime Kubiryaba Anne, born 13 April 1987 and popularly known as Anne Kansiime, is a Ugandan entertainer, comedian, and actress. She has been referred to as “Africa’s Queen of Comedy” by some African media outlets
According to recorded interviews that she gave in 2014, Anne began posting some of her sketch comedy skits on YouTube. She received positive feedback and that encouraged her to post more videos.
Her screen breakthrough came when Citizen TV from neighboring Kenya offered her a slot to produce, star and present a comedy show once a week.
That is how she came up with the Don’t Mess With Kansiime comedy show. As of November 2014, her YouTube channel had amassed more than 15 million views. Her YouTube videos receive thousands of views and she has appeared on BBC Focus on Africa. She has played to packed houses in Blantyre, Gaborone, Kigali, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Lilongwe, London, Lusaka and Harare

Herbert Mendo Ssegujja, born 27 September 198, better known by his stage name Teacher Mpamire is a Ugandan comedian, actor and high school teacher. He is most famous for mimicking president, Museveni.
His performances have seen him stage shows in Zambia, Malawi and other African countries. In 2016, Teacher Mpamire was named “discovery of year” at the Africa Youth Awards held in Accra, Ghana.
