The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka has arrested a 36-year-old Ugandan national for being in possession of over $70, 000 (About Ugx. 284m) counterfeit dollar notes.
DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo said the suspect has been identified as Isa Mutebi, 36, a Ugandan businessman of House No. 12 Kamwala in Lusaka.
According to LusakaTimes, the suspect was arrested at unnamed mall in the Central Business District of Lusaka.
“We have arrested a 36-year-old Ugandan national for being in possession of over $70, 000 United States Dollars counterfeit notes in Lusaka” Ms. Katongo said.
June 2015, Zambia’s Department of Immigration arrested 21 Ugandan traditional healers that have been making unsubstantiated claims of magical healing powers in the media. Immigration public relations officer Namati Nshinka noted : “The suspected illegal immigrants were picked from various parts of Lusaka, including Chilenje, Libala, Kalingalinga, Kamwala South and Kabwata with the aid of the very contact details advertised in the newspapers,”
