South Sudan Army chief Gen Ajongo dead, Salva Kiir declares 03 days of national mourning

The Chief of Defence Forces of the Sudan people’s Liberation Liberation Army [SPLA], General Ajongo Mawut has died-Government has announced.



“It is with heavy heart that I announce the untimely death of General James Ajongo Mawut, the Sudan People’s Liberation Army chief of Defense Force. I offer our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of General James Ajongo. We join you in grief and pray that God’s peace be with you all during this difficult moment,” President, Salva Kiir noted in press statement He also declared three days of national mourning.

Gen Ajongo passed on Friday Morning in Cairo, Egypt, following a short illness. The president on South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayadirt in a condolence message to Ajongo’s family said the deceased was a remarkable man and committed founding member of SPLA



Kiir said that the late was a remarkable man and committed founding member of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement and Army. ‘ ‘He served this nation with dedication and honor and shall be remembered as hero,” Kiir said.
General Ajongo replaced General Paul Malong May last year.
