MP Nambooze arrested

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze was on Wednesday morning picked by Uganda Police from her home in Mukono and driven to the CID headquarters at Kibuli to make statement
According to the Observer, Police on Tuesday opened up investigations against four people believed to have incited or participated in the assassination of Arua municipality member of parliament Col Ibrahim Abiriga last week.



They include Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze, on the basis of a video in which she explains how easy it is to attack Abiriga even with his bodyguards all around him.
She was driven by her husband while two police patrols escorted her.
Uganda Police on Tuesday evening confirmed opening up several investigations following the murder of Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Yusuf Abiriga, and his brother Said Kongo on Friday June 8 , 2018 near his home at Kirinnyabigo, Kawanda in Wakiso District.

According to a statement from Uganda Police, ” the Uganda Police together with its sister security agencies continue to pursue the criminals who assassinated the legislator and his bother,” but are also investigating several people over offensive remarks, inciting violence, disturbance of the dead and malicious damage to property.
Police confirmed they have in their possession voice recordings of different people that are offensive in nature as far as the Computer Misuse Act is concerned.



“The Uganda Police is investigating these recordings including posts by Betty Nambooze Bakireke, MP Mukono Municipality. Already four general inquiry files have been opened at CID headquarters.”
Police went on to say that ” On Sunday June 10, 2018 while the two bodies of the assassinated legislator and his brother arrived, a section of residents in Arua engaged in acts of violence and a lot of property was destroyed as a result”.



As a result, police said, a number of case files have been opened to investigate various crimes committed. They include case of inciting violence and disturbance of the dead and malicious damage of property.
