The National Executive committee [NEC] of Democratic Party (DP) leadership on Thursday resolved to suspend outspoken Mukono Municipality member of parliament Betty Nambooze Bakileke from the position of DP Buganda Vice President for defying party president Nobert Mao.
The party says, the MP has been suspended for three months. During this time, the party will investigate her conduct and behaviour.
In a closed-door meeting at Pope Paul Memorial Centre in Nsambya Kampala, the motion to suspend Nambooze was moved by the party youth vice chairman Paul Ssembajwe and seconded by youth Secretary General Ritah Nakyanzi.
Mufumbira confirmed that among the 30 NEC members who attended the meeting 22 supported her suspension, 4 moved out of meeting, 1 disagreed with her suspension whereas 3 didn’t vote.
Among the four who moved out include; the mayor of Makindye division Ali Nganda Mulyanyama, Paul Kakande, Sam Muyinzi.
Meanwhile Namboze who was absent during the meeting says she will respond to her suspension on Monday next week if her health permits.
