Dr Kizza Besigye has reportedly been blocked from attending the requiem mass of fallen Police Operations Director and spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi, at Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala.

Dr Besigye, who was travelling in his personal car with the Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa was intercepted by police on Lubaga road, a few metres from the Cathedral.

Harold Kaija, the FDC Deputy Secretary General claims Besigye was stopped by police officers from proceeding to attend the mass.
“Even in death Kaweesi has blocked Besigye from attending his requiem Mass. We judge them by their fruits,” he said.
The news has been condemned by many.

Sarah Kagingo posted on social media : Had Kaweesi been alive, he would have warmly welcomed Dr. Besigye with his trademark smile. Please let the Dr. attend requiem mass.
In death, all divisions are set aside. That is our way, the way of the African people! Obuntu in my language, ubuntu everywhere in Africa!

Kaweesi stood for negotiation before action. He was a humble young officer who loved his country and respected all. Let’s honour his legacy. Adieu, my friend.

The mass at the cathedral was attended by among others former Presidential Candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi.
