Veteran Journalist Andrew Mwenda has said that another close associate of Gen Kale Kayihura has been arrested.
‘ ‘On the developing story, Herbert Muhangi, another close associate of Kale Kayihura and a former head of Flying Squad, was arrested last evening and taken to Makindye Military Police headquarters.’’ He tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier; Mwenda revealed that close associates of Kale Kayihura, Col Ndahura, the former head of Crime Intelligence and Richard Ndabwoine, the former head of cyber intelligence had been arrested.
Meanwhile, Gen Kayihura in an interview with the New Vision denied media reports of being under arrest adding that he has been at his farm in Lyantonde doing farming.
“would I be the first one to be arrested?” Kayihura told the New Vision.
Speaking morning in a phone interview with local FM station on Wednesday morning , the Special Forces Command (SFC) Spokesperson Capt. Jimmy Denis Omara termed the arrest reports as “baseless and only aimed at diverting and causing panic among Ugandans.”
The UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire said he has also been seeing the rumours and wonders why people were spreading falsehoods. Adding that such information should just be treated as social media rumours because it is not true.
Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima says it is not under his mandate to talk about the arrest of Kayihura and therefore cannot say anything about it.
