12 dead, a dozen injured in Mbikko-Jinja road motor accident

Twelve people died and 13 others seriously injured in Mbikko Kitigoma in Buikwe District along Kampala- Jinja high way.

According to Police, a Fuso truck Registration number UAL 278F carrying assorted merchandise from Bidco to Kampala lost control, swerved to the right of road and rammed into two taxis Reg UAW 200W and UAL 278F, before landing into a makeshift church. Both taxis were heading to Jinja.

Police is yet to establish the number of injured or killed in the church.
The injured were rushed to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital and Kawolo hospital.

Police said details about the victims are still scanty. However, eye witness identified some of the dead as Negule Jerome, the Budaka District Personnel officer and a one Peter Shiminyu from Mbale District.

Also among the dead is a female student of Uganda Martyrs University- Nkozi. She was putting on her graduation gown.
